Pakite PAT220 2.4G Wireless AV Transmitter & Receiver review

Manufactured by Shenzhen PAKITE Technology Co., Ltd., China, this product transmits AV signal wirelessly between two points via a transmitter and receiver.
I’m connecting it to my satellite TV  box in the bedroom and to be able to view tv channels in the living room downstairs.

Front view of the box

Back view of the box

This model comes with an IR extension wire, which enable control of the satellite TV  box from the receiver using the remote to switch channels.

Package Content:
·         1 x Transmitter
·         1 x Receiver
·         2 x Power Adapter
·         2 x RCA Cable
·         1 x IR extension wire
·         1 x Manual

Step 1

Connect the transmitter to the box set via AV cable.

Position the IR extension wire.

At the back of the transmitter and receiver, there's a channel switch which you can change by flicking the toggle up or down, to get the best signal. Make sure both the transmitter and the receiver are set to the same channel.

Step 2

Connect the receiver to the TV input.
Im connecting it to an old CRT tv and it works pretty well.

Few things to note:
-no HDMI slot, so it cant transmit HD signal
-slight interference if mobile phones are in close proximity
-it transmit a strong signal and uses 2.4G, which is the same frequency as a WIFI, which sometimes interfere with WIFI connections. On few occasions I had to place my mobile phone away from the device to be able to connect to my WIFI.

Overall it’s a good product and works well as it should.  Its lightweight, nice design, easy setup, good transmission quality and with the IR, i can control the satellite TV  box from the receiver.

Proton is set to release it’s new sedan model by mid August. Several enhancement have been made on this model based on market concern on it’s Gen 2 hatchback including improvements on its campro engine, improve rear headroom and addition of glove compartment to name a few.

The new model will come in three variants: Base line, middle line and high line with price ranging from RM 45,000 to RM 56,000.

Proton is very positive and confident that the launch of the new sedan will take the market by storm, judging from the pricing and features and expects to return to profit this financial year.

It is really hope that Proton would improve in quality and though there’s not much technological features, with competitive pricing one would be enticed to have a look. Rumors have it that this will be the best model that Proton has produce. We just have to wait and see.

Micro Genius (super famicom clone) gaming

Who would have forgotten the console gaming frenzy during the late eighties. It was called computer game or TV game. The days of Micro Genius, Super Famicom or other NES clone, the days of late night /early morning gaming (23 hours of gaming, 1 hour for other stuff), joystick flying in anger as the buttons scattered as it hits the floor/wall, exchanging cartridges, repairs of burnt TV, small children crying to mommy because they want to play and the mommy have to go around looking to borrow from neighbors, meeting/ discussions among friends on how to complete a certain game stage, putting the power adapter in the freezer so it cools down faster.

And surely one would remember classic games such as Rockman/Megaman series, Bomberman, Battlecities, Contra, Battletoads, GI Joe, double dragon to name a few.

If you’re feeling nostalgic, good news, there’s a way you can replay all those games on your computer. All you have to do is to download the NES emulator. An emulator is a software that makes your PC thinks that it is a NES machine. The most common used emulator is the ZNES and Fceu. With emulator you can play the games and best of all, you can save your game at any stage during the game.

You can find it at http://www.romnation.net/. Here you will be able to download emulator for Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Atari etc as well as thousands of game titles. I would suggest the use of game pad to fully enjoy playing. Happy playing down memory lane.

The 5051AWXMi comes with 512MB RAM which is the minimum requirement for running Windows Vista if you’re thinking of upgrading. It also has an AMD Turion 64 MK36 2.0GHz processor, which is slightly higher than average for a laptop this price. I’ve read from a website that the Turion processor can lower in speed depending on what you are doing. therefore saving battery life.

The onboard ATi Radeon Xpress 1100 is not for power gaming. A review on this laptop reported that it can play games such as FarCry, NFS: Most Wanted etc on lowest graphics. I’m planning to test it with Fifa 2006 and hopefully it runs well. Anybody has any info on type of games it could run?

The 14.1" WXGA LCD is very clear and easy to read, with a resolution of 1280x800. The onboard WiFi enables you to surf internet wirelessly though you have to find a ‘spot’. It also have an integrated 56Kbps modem & 10/100 mbps Lan. I haven't got a clue on what "DVD-Super Multi double layer" means but so far it plays DVD/ VCD well. The Acer Orbicam camera mounted on top of the LCD panel with 225 degree rotation allows you to capture photos or videos up front or at the back of the LCD panel.

You can download the driver or utility at
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3050_5050.html just in case you lost the included cd.

The Acer Aspire 50501AWXMi is a very good laptop for the money, I bought it for the price of
RM 2,299.00 (USD 656.86).

This flash mp3 player has a compact & stylish design & direct USB makes it very convenient for music storage. It can also function as data storage.

What I like about this player is that you can recharge it simply by connecting it to your PC usb slot and takes only a few minutes depending on the remaining power. There’s no need to change the battery. A fully charge battery can last me up to a week

The player comes with a Sonic stage software, which is used to transfer music from your PC in order for the mp3 file to be played. It also have FM tuner if you want to listen to radio broadcast.

Overall the sound quality is excellent depends on your MP3 quality of course. I would recommend using quality headphone to get the most of the sound quality. You can also customize its equalizer settings, you can set 7 levels for each five band.

I found out that I am unable to sort the song order according to my liking which is common to flash type player. The songs are listed according to alphabetical order. You can sort the songs by artist or album.

It comes in 6 different colors and for 512mb, the price is USD 69.95 (RM299).

Metal music

Rhapsody, an Italian metal band have released a new album ‘Triumph or Agony’ in September 2006.

In my opinion, this album is quite good though most of the tracks are of mid tempo. It carries on the style from their previous album “Symphony of Enchanted Lands part 2”. Rhapsody are known for speed metal and catchy melodies but for this album it lacks both. It’s more on orchestration rather than guitar works. My favorite tracks are Triumph or Agony, Heart of the Darklands and Silent Dream. Fabio Vocals are excellent in this album.

Their 1997 debut album, "Legendary Tales" caused an international sensation in the metal community. Its follow up, "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands" went even further catapulting the band into the charts in several territories including Germany where it entered at #54. Aside from having achieved sales so far in excess of 250,000 albums, the band are still trying to develop their sound further by incorporating new ideas whilst still remaining true to their primary influences associated with the music of the cinema.

If you’re new to this band, I would recommend their 1988 album, Symphony Of Enchanted Lands. You will get an idea of what their music is about. Find out more at www.mightyrhapsody.com
